What to Wear/Bring
If your child is not yet potty trained, they are required to wear a swim diaper. Changing tables are available in both the men’s and women’s restrooms at the pool. Swimsuits are required for all participants. Please do not send your child in a personal life jacket. Our goal is to build their comfort and confidence in the water without the use of flotation aids. If any support is needed, our YMCA swim instructor team will provide the appropriate equipment. Please bring a water and a towel for your child.

Expectations and Outcomes of Swim Lessons:
The primary goal of YMCA swim lessons is to introduce children to the aquatic environment by building their comfort and confidence in the water. Lessons focus on developing fundamental safety skills and basic aquatic abilities. While your child may not leave the program swimming independently without a lifejacket, the aim is to increase their comfort level in the water and enhance their understanding of water safety.
