The summer has been flying by, and we’re trying to soak up every minute of it! Between record breaking enrollment numbers in Summer Day Camp and Youth Soccer league along with several at capacity days at the Forest Park Pool, our staff is beyond excited to be bringing the summer fun to so many families.
Not only have we been bringing the fun, but we’ve also been putting in the work to continue to improve the programs and services we offer. Things you may have noticed…
- Tween Programming Space – We received a grant from the Wabash Valley Community Foundation to renovate our tween space. We have big plans for kid-focused programs that will engage our young people and give them a space to be kids. We’re planning for a grand reveal in September!
- Free Swim Lessons – Thanks to the Indiana Department of Health, we’re able to provide a variety of aquatics safety initiatives this summer through grant funding. These items include the following freebies: 50 swim lesson packages, 50 life jackets, aquatics safety seminars, and rescue/training materials for our life guards.
- Weight Room Reno – We’re cleaning, reorganizing, and painting to give this space a fresh look. Thanks to the Clay County YMCA Advisory Council for organizing and executing this initiative!
- Group Exercise Upgrades – We’re still moving forward with our group exercise space updates. Things coming SOON (thanks to our friends at Lowe’s) are paint and lighting upgrades – this means new fans, folks!
People talk about slow seasons, but we’ve yet to have one this year. I’m so thankful for members, volunteers, and staff that continue to move our mission forward. I know I’ve said this before, but we can’t do what we do without you, so thank you for showing up, giving input, and telling the community why the Y is the place to be.
