POSITION SUMMARY
The Membership Representative plays a vital role in promoting a welcoming and supportive environment at the Putnam County YMCA. This individual will provide excellent customer service, assist members and visitors with their needs, and ensure smooth membership processes, while contributing to the growth and retention of the YMCA membership base. The representative will be the first point of contact for members, managing front desk operations and performing administrative duties to uphold the YMCA’s core values.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Customer Interaction & Service:
– Greet and assist members, visitors, and program participants in person and over the phone, providing excellent customer service.
– Address member concerns, resolve issues, and follow up when necessary, escalating matters to the Membership Director or Branch Director when appropriate.
– Utilize software to manage member accounts, including adding new members, setting up accounts, and updating information.

2. Membership Processes & Administration:
– Conduct tours and explain membership options to prospective members.
– Process memberships, program registrations, and day passes, including Adult and Youth Day Passes.
– Ensure member information, including ID verification and accurate data entry, is up to date in the system.
– Manage previous balances and assist members with payment plans, referring unresolved issues to the appropriate staff.

3. Financial & Clerical Duties:
– Complete financial transactions, such as processing payments, membership fees, vouchers, and childcare payments.
– Perform daily cash drawer count and close-out procedures to maintain accuracy.
– Utilize and maintain the system, following all steps for membership holds, terminations, and financial assistance requests.

4. Program Support & Communication:
– Support program sign-ups for childcare, fitness classes, and other YMCA programs using the membership portal.
– Ensure proper communication of YMCA policies and procedures, including dress code, building protocols, and emergency procedures.
– Keep updated through internal communication channels to stay informed of front desk updates and instructions.

5. Facility Management:
– Assist with facility rentals by providing forms, managing the calendar for availability, and coordinating with leadership for approvals.
– Maintain a clean and organized front desk area and manage supplies as needed.

6. Safety & Emergency Response:
– Act as a first point of contact in case of emergencies and assist with building evacuations or emergency procedures as required.
– Support building staff during emergency situations and communicate effectively with the YMCA team.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
2. Competence in handling financial transactions.
3. Experience in a customer service, hospitality, or related field preferred.
4. Ability to manage diverse groups and understand individual needs.
5. CPR and First Aid Certification within 60 days of employment.
6. Proficiency with YMCA software systems (e.g., Daxko) is a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
– Must be able to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.
– Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds occasionally.
– Ability to use a computer and phone for extended periods.
– The work environment typically includes moderate noise levels.

Job Title: School-Age Child Care Counselor Position Pay Rate: Starts $8/hr, Max $9/hr
FLSA Status: Non-exempt Department: Youth & Family Services
Status: Part-time, Temporary (August – May) Branch: Vigo County YMCA
Reports to: SACC Site Lead

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direction for the children in the classroom, and implements program curriculum. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on building achievementand belongingin youth and relationshipsamong youth and within families. Counselors provide snack, homework help and support, as well as supervised and structured play time, both inside and outside, for the children in the program. This position will work onsite at an elementary school within the Vigo County School Corporation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
2. Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievementand belongingin youth and relationshipsamong youth and within families.
3. Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Follows all procedures and standards.
4. Engages in activities, games, and crafts with the children. Advises and helps during homework time.
5. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
6. Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication
with parents. Engages parents as volunteers and connects them to the YMCA.
7. Maintains the upkeep of assigned site and equipment. Includes helping keep equipment organized and in safe condition, keeping assigned site areas clean, and ensuring that safety hazards are quickly corrected.
8. Communicates with site lead on issues of the site to ensure the program is of highest quality.
9. Maintains required program records.
10. Attends and participates in program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Completion of 30 hours of college credit is preferred
2. At least 18 years of age
3. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 90 days of
hire date.
4. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
5. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate
program activities.
6. Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships
with people from different backgrounds.

Position Summary:
Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:
1. Maintains constant surveillance of the pool area.
2. Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Completes related reports as required.
3. Maintains effective relationships with the members, participants and other staff.
4. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
5. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
6. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
7. Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
8. Performs chemical testing at appropriate times of the day, as required, and takes appropriate action.
9. Maintains cleanliness of assigned areas per Aquatics director’s instructions for end of shift including up not limited to pool deck, mechanical room, equipment area, and locker room.
10. Attends all staff meetings and training as required.

Qualifications:
1. Minimum age of 15.
2. Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification.
3. Current YMCA Lifeguarding or Red Cross Lifeguarding and obtain YMCA Lifeguarding Certification within 60 days of hire.
4. Oxygen Administration certification (required within 30 days of hire)
5. Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
6. Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.

Physical Demands:
1. Ability to pass lifeguard water test.
2. Must be able to remain alert.
3. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
4. Adequate ability to hear noises and distinguish distress signals.
5. Ability to continuously scan all areas of the pool with clear vision.
6. Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks necessary for a water rescue.

7. Ability to communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations.
