Ready to challenge yourself and have fun while doing it? Y NOT TRI is our annual indoor triathlon held every March, designed for all fitness levels! Whether you’re competing solo or as part of a team, this event is a great way to push your limits in a supportive environment.
How It Works:
🔥 Individual Registration: Complete all three legs—swim, bike, and run—yourself.
🔥 Team Registration: Gather a team of three, where each person takes on one leg of the event.

YMCA Group Exercise Classes welcome all fitness levels. Taking a group class means building community and having fun while gaining strength, endurance, and energy. Our skilled and certified instructors provide a welcoming, supportive environment suitable for all abilities.
Vigo County YMCA offers a variety of classes including spin, yoga, strength training, HIIT, Silver Sneakers®, Zumba® and more! Group Exercise classes are FREE for Y members.

empowHER Lift Club is designed exclusively for teenage and high school girls who want to build strength, boost confidence, and feel empowered in the gym. This supportive, judgment-free program teaches proper weightlifting techniques, functional training, and the importance of a strong mind and body.
Move & Read Book Club
Combine movement and mindfulness in our Move & Read Book Club—a unique experience where fitness and personal growth come together! Each session blends light physical activity with engaging discussions on inspiring books, helping you strengthen both body and mind.

Senior Fitness: Stay Active, Stay Strong!

Our senior fitness classes are designed to help you stay strong, flexible, and energized in a fun and supportive environment. No matter your fitness level, we have a class for you!
Class Offerings:
Rhythm & Relaxation
A faith-based 30/30 class that combines seated drumming and chair yoga to improve coordination, flexibility, and mindfulness. Perfect for those looking for a gentle yet engaging workout.
Silver Sneakers
A nationally recognized program designed for active older adults. Enjoy a variety of exercises that focus on strength, balance, and flexibility, all in a welcoming community.
Senior Tabata
Short bursts of high-energy exercise followed by rest periods to build endurance and strength. Exercises are modified for safety, making this an effective and fun way to stay fit!
Senior Strength
A low-impact strength training class focused on building muscle, improving balance, and increasing bone density—all essential for maintaining an active lifestyle.
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA
In partnership with the LIVESTRONG Foundation, the YMCA has developed a small group cancer survivorship program for those who are living with, through or beyond cancer. Learn more below about our specialized program.
Program Details
Join our 12-week program designed to support your health and wellness journey. This program includes:
✅ Two sessions per week (60-75 minutes each)
✅ A well-rounded fitness approach – including cardiovascular conditioning, strength training, balance, and flexibility exercises
✅ Fitness & quality of life assessments – before and after participation to track your progress
✅ Expert guidance – led by YMCA-certified instructors who will support you every step of the way

Whatever your goal, our nationally certified trainers will provide plans, coaching and motivation to help you succeed. Your first meeting with a trainer will be a free, 30-minute consultation to discuss your goals, health history, and training plan. All sessions after are 45 minutes.

Whether you’re new to fitness or needing some new inspiration, an Activate orientation is the perfect place to start. A YMCA staff member will meet with you one-on-one to discuss performance-based goals, familiarize you with our facility offerings, and figure out a plan that will work for you. A follow up meeting will also be scheduled to check in, tweak your workout plan if necessary, and answer any questions. Schedule by emailing melden@ymcaswv.org.
The Vigo County YMCA is proud to offer internship opportunities for prospective Wellness professionals. Exercise prescription, group exercise teaching, personal training experience, nutrition coaching, and program development are just a handful of opportunities available during an internship at the Y.
